Family Caregiver Alliance (FCA)

FCA support and assists families and caregivers through education, advocacy and services. Can I Get Help to Pay for Caregiving?

Arizona Non-Medical, Home and Community Based Services

The Arizona Non-Medical, Home and Community Based Services program is a non-Medicaid program that is designed to assist seniors in daily living activities and remain living in their homes or with family members. While this program offers consumer direction- usually meaning the care recipient hires their own care provider- in Arizona, the term is used to demonstrate respect for applicant’s wishes. 

Services provided:

-Adult day care

-Adult day health care

-Home delivered meals & meals at senior centers

-Home health aide

Housekeeping

-Personal care

-Respite care

-Transportation

-Visiting nurse

There are waiting lists to enter the program. Priority is based on functional and financial need.

Family members, including spouses and adult children, are allowed to be hired and compensated through Self-Directed Attendant Care, which is an option provided by Arizona Medicaid. Member-directed options are available to most Arizona Long Term Care System recipients who live in their home. The program also covers costs of certain medical and accessibility equipment.

FCSP services for family caregivers are provided through local area agencies on aging (AAAs) and include: – Information – Assistance – Individual counseling, support groups and caregiver training – Respite care – Limited supplemental services, such as transportation and home modifications

Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System (AHCCCS) -Medicaid

AHCCCS is Arizona’s Medicaid program. It is health insurance for people with limited income and resources. It pays for a variety of medical services, including in-home care or nursing home care, depending on eligibility. State website is also available in Spanish.
